Are most authentic Mexican Hispanic recipes easy to make at home? Absolutely. Depending on the dish, some can be prepared in a short period of time.
Most common quick dishes are"Fajitas", which are tortillas filled with your choices of meat and vegetables, "Quesadillas" which uses flour tortilla’s that are filled with your choice of meat and cheese and of course who can resist the flavors of a homemade "Chili" made with lots of ground beef and beans and made to your preference from chilies ranging from mild to hot.
There is some, which require more of a time investment; for instance, the famous Spanish rice dish named “Paella.” This seafood rice dish is well worth the time to prepare. From what I’ve learned, there are many varieties to this popular rice dish.
My first introduction to making great paella was from a cooking class I attended taught by a Spanish chef who was very knowledgeable about this flavorful dish. To sum it up in a nutshell, paella is a one- pot rice dish, made with fresh fish and seafood, which can consist of shrimp, mussels, squid and can even include the addition of chicken and sausage. Flavors of chicken and seafood stock are added to the dish, along with tomatoes, garlic, and onions and of course the signature herb, saffron.
Mexican and Hispanic recipes are not only tasty to make, they can be an economical way of eating. Besides dishes that use plenty of rice, beans are a protein source heavily used in many dishes. Common herbs and spices added to dishes are garlic, cumin, cilantro, paprika, and chili powders.
