Get Saucy: Make Dinner a New Way Every Day with Simple Sauces, Marinades, Glazes, Dressings, Pestos, Pasta Sauces, Salsas, and More

"Get Saucy" by Grace Parisi will get you out of a rut on what to serve for dinner. In this cookbook, you’ll never run out of ideas on what to cook next. The main focus of this cookbook is sauces you can pair with all kinds of poultry, meat or seafood. But, what I especially like about the book and I’m sure you will too, is that she focuses on eclectic cuisines from all over the world. For example, you’ll find recipes on how to make traditional homemade Mexican salsas ranging from mild to hot.

In addition, you’ll find recipes for barbecue sauces infusing the flavors of the Caribbean and Mexico and elegant wine sauces that don’t require a great deal of time. You’ll be amazed with the wonderful flavors of each recipe.

This cookbook has recipes for every kind of sauce you can imagine that you can make from scratch. There is a collection for creamy and vinegar based salad dressings, compound butter and brown butter sauces, which are easy to prepare.

Another great section of the cookbook labeled under “Brines, Marinades, and Spice Pastes” is a must do. On page 187 there is a recipe that I use often which is a “Rosemary Balsamic Marinade.” The recipe is simple, but is loaded with flavor and is good to use with beef or pork. This section alone gives you great ideas on how to add flavor and spice to meats.

As a bonus, the author includes some recipes and cooking tips that complement each section. If you enjoy eating Jamaican curry, you’ll especially like the recipe on Page 232 titled “West Indian Curry” I was especially pleased with the ease of preparation. The recipe calls for lamb or goat, but I use stew meat to prepare this authentic tasting dish with flavors of thyme, ginger, allspice and scotch bonnet pepper.

The book ends with a collection of delicious dessert sauces, including Rum Raisin, Caramel and a decadent Chocolate Custard Sauce.

Although this paperback cookbook has no photos, the quality and content of the recipes is key. You’ll enjoy this robust collection of 500 recipes to add that much needed variety to your everyday meals.
