Fried Fish In Spicy Sauce Recipe



Fried Fish is served frequently in Soul Food cuisine. This Fried Fish in Spicy Sauce recipe is made in a delicious sauce made with peppers and onions. Use any kind of white fish you like.


1/4 cup of olive oil

1 1/2 lb of fish fillets

3/4 cup of water

2 carrots, thinly sliced

2 small red onions, thinly sliced

1 small green pepper, thinly sliced

1 small red pepper, thinly sliced

2 garlic cloves, minced

1 tablespoon of dark brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon of kosher salt

1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper

1/2 teaspoon of crushed red pepper

1 tablespoon of freshly grated ginger

1/3 cup of apple cider vinegar

2 teaspoons of cornstarch

Cut fish fillets into serving sized pieces and pat dry.

Heat the olive oil in a heavy or cast iron skillet over medium heat. Add the fish. Cook 8-10 minutes turning carefully to turn.

Heat the water, carrots, onions, green pepper, red pepper, garlic, brown sugar, salt, cayenne pepper, crushed red pepper and freshly grated ginger to boiling.

Cover with a lid and reduce the heat and cook for 5 minutes.

Mix vinegar and cornstarch, stir into vegetables. Heat to boiling making sure to stir constantly. Boil for 1 minute, then pour over the fried fish. Serve immediately.
