Buttermilk Biscuits Recipe

This is a delicious buttermilk biscuits recipe. This recipe uses butter flavored shortening which keeps the biscuits from burning.

2 cups of sifted all-purpose flour

¼ cup of Crisco butter flavored shortening

2 ½ teaspoons of baking powder

Pinch of salt

2/3 cup of buttermilk

Turn your oven on and preheat to 450 degrees. Grease a large baking sheet with butter.

In a bowl, combine the sifted flour and add the baking powder and pinch of salt, stirring gently to blend. Using a pastry blender or a fork, cut in the shortening until it resembles the size of small peas.

Add the buttermilk, stir using a wooden spoon to make the dough. Do not overwork the dough.

Take the dough and roll onto a lightly floured board. Roll the dough out to about a ¾ thickness.

Using a 2-inch biscuit cutter, cut out biscuits and place on greased baking sheet.

Bake for 12-15 minutes.

Makes 12-14 biscuits.
