Bread Pudding



Bread pudding is one of those desserts, which is considered real comfort food. This recipe is sweet, buttery and flavored with spices of cinnamon and nutmeg.

½ loaf of crusty French bread

¾ quart of whole milk

1 small can of evaporated milk

¼ cup of sugar

¼ cup of dark brown sugar

4 eggs

3 teaspoons of vanilla

½ teaspoon of cinnamon

½ teaspoon of nutmeg

1 cup of toasted chopped pecans

1 cup of golden raisins

2 tablespoons of unsalted butter, melted

In a large bowl, break up the French bread. Pour in the milk and evaporated milk, sugar and brown sugar, eggs, vanilla, toasted pecans and golden raisins. Sprinkle in the nutmeg and cinnamon and mix well.

Grease a 9X12 baking pan. Pour in the mixture. Drizzle the 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter over the bread pudding. Cook for 30 minutes at 350 degrees.

Serve with your favorite topping or vanilla ice cream.
